Course Opening Saturday

First sign of wilt on turf is foot printing

As the message has already been put out via email and twitter the golf course is opening on Saturday April 23rd. Course & Grounds staff have been working very hard to prepare the course for the members and the 2016 golf season. Over the last week we have seen some seasonally warm temperatures and dry conditions. In fact on Monday afternoon some staff were reassigned to hand watering the putting surfaces as they were beginning to show signs of wilt. The Greens have wintered exceptionally well and we are looking forward to an excellent season on the golf course. Prior to opening the greens the putting surfaces will be topdressed Friday. I expect this to alleviate some of the bumpiness often experienced during spring golf along with the many other benefits to playability and plant health. The 11th green will be open for play. Rope will be placed in front of the green on the newly sodded area. I ask that you please walk around the rope until the sod on the green is completely established.

On Friday evening the club management team is hosting A "Welcome Back Members" event. Please come see me, I will be sharing some plans we developed over the winter including the incorporation of Accent Fescue into the golf course, tree planting plans and photos of the proposed new washroom on the back 9.
